I don't know how much exposure this or any other Square one site (especially with clips) wants to have, but I was tempted to suggest this and other sites with Square One clips to the about.com child parenting guide for their Math Fun & Games Online list of links. I was also thinking it would be a good link for their Homeschooling guide as well.
I have nieces & nephews between the ages of 4 and 11 and they just love watching Square One clips. The youngest especially likes Mathman. The older kids like the music videos.
So what do you think? Should this and other sites be linked to from more generic education sites or is it too much exposure?
Another thing to do might be to issue a press release from the website having to do with Brian's case to get Square One back on Noggin. The trick is, I guess, to work in some angle that will catch people's attention. You can also just have a generic press release to announce the existence of the website. (not sure if that was done already) Or maybe a press release about how there are several of you out there who seem to have been inspired to get math degrees by the TV show (human interest). Just a few thoughts...

My opinion is there is no such thing as too much exposure!
If we can get people interested, or re-spark an interest in "old/closeted fans", I think it's a great idea to tout the site wherever it seems most appropriate. And, I'd say most especially with teachers, since they are the ones who can use it most with classroom use and all that. (Of course with PR would come many requests for tapes and whatnot...but that could be a good thing too!)
Anyway, I say let's toss some ideas around. I've long thought of things that could be done (I once planned on making T-shirts, or at least iron-on logos to put on them, but never did do it); mainly I've just lacked the time and drive to do it! But working together, I think we could handle the task! We can always experiment and go from there. |

I agree with Jill; no such thing as "too much exposure" . If anything, there isn't enough exposure, on the web, to SQ1. So please, link away |

Jill, you have some interesting ideas. The specific idea you refer to (making t-shirts) could be realized with little effort.
Have you ever heard of http://www.cafepress.com ? You can upload designs and have them printed on t-shirts, mugs, etc.. As I understand it, they do not print anything until there is an order. Then they get a cut, and you get a cut. You can either do it with no cash outlay, or pay a monthly fee if you want to get fancy.
The only thing that might be an issue is copyright infringement (?). I'm not a lawyer so I don't know. |
